High-speed centrifuges are essential in a lot of biology labs. These powerful floor-standing instruments are also referred to as a “harvest centrifuge”, as they can harvest cell biomass and separate intricate cellular components – such as vesicles, organelles, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids – with ease and efficiency. Without them, biological research and industry would simply not be where it is today! Our high-speed centrifuge range is designed to take your biology workflows to the next level. Experience dependable, high-speed centrifugation with a whole range of sample types, even with temperature-sensitive or delicate samples. Explore our high-speed centrifuges, and find the instrument that suits your lab’s needs.

Safety

When choosing any centrifuge, safety is essential. Our high-speed centrifuge machines are designed to put safety first, with robust features, including a self-locking rotor system to avoid manual errors, and an interlock door to prevent the door from opening while the centrifuge is still spinning. Our high-speed centrifuges also have a range of detectors to prevent imbalance, overspeed, and overheating, creating a safer lab environment.

Choosing the right Eppendorf high-speed centrifuge

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to high-speed centrifugation. With this in mind, it can be difficult to know which Eppendorf high-speed centrifuge is right for your lab. Here are a few considerations to help you choose:

Noise level

Speed

Rotor type

Footprint

Noise level is an important consideration when choosing a high-speed floor centrifuge. Loud instruments can damage hearing, disturb concentration, and disrupt conversations between lab users. Both Eppendorf high-speed models have a similar noise level, although Centrifuge CR30NX is slightly quieter, with levels below 56 dB(A) – about the noise level of a moderately quiet home environment – at maximum speeds.
Both Eppendorf high-speed centrifuge models offer precise, high-speed centrifugation at a subcellular level. If you’re looking to maximize speed and precision, our ultra high-speed Centrifuge CR30NX  is a great option, with maximum speeds of up to 110,000 x g.
Our high-speed centrifuges are compatible with a wide range of swing-bucket and fixed-angle rotors. These are suitable for different-sized centrifuge bottles, conical tubes, and plates, giving you the freedom to select the rotor types that suit your lab’s needs.
Use our rotor selection assistant to find suitable rotor types for your applications.
Footprint is another key determining factor when selecting a centrifuge for your lab space. Floor-standing machines can take up considerable room, and our aim is to develop centrifuges with optimal speed, sample capacity, and safety, while also considering their footprint. Both our high-speed centrifuges have a similar footprint, as shown below, although Centrifuge CR22N has a slightly smaller width, depth, and height (WxDxH):
Centrifuge CR22N – 700 x 760 x 915 mm
Centrifuge CR30NX - 708 x 892 x 866 mm
